As our friends at the Crafty Pint recently pointed out, when malt is roasted dark enough, the flavours become very similar to the bitter characteristics of highly roasted coffee; hence the temptation to combine the two has resulted in many breweries creating a variety of coffee infused beers including porters and stouts. We too have been tempted for some time!
As one of the few breweries in the country who also happen to roast coffee beans on site, it would almost be criminal for us not to have a crack. With winter upon us we wanted to make a beer that would be creamy, dark, a little bit sweet and best enjoyed by the fire. We also didn't want it to be too heavy and too rich so you could enjoy more than just one; introducing TRBC MOCHA STOUT !
As always, we've mainly used local malts by Voyager and a dash of lactose for sweetness to end up with a stout that is smooth and at 4.4% ABV, fairly easy drinking. Due to the types of malt we've used, you should pick up enough chocolate aroma and flavour to give it that nice mocha hit :-) Available now till stocks last!
