The Oatmeal Stout is a particularly smooth and easy drinking dark beer. The Oats going into the mash bring out a touch of sweetness to the beer without compromising on the complexity of the brew. Even compared to other stouts, the TRBC Oatmeal Stout really is an exceptional drop.
The particularly unique profile comes through from the high level of protein, lipids and gums that are released by the oat grain during the brewing process. The balance of oats into beer is a critical and delicate process, the right amount of gums from the oats will contribute to the velvety texture but anything more than 30% can add unwanted bitterness. It's important to get it just right. And we feel pretty confident that that's exactly what we've done.
