This is something we think you all need to hear. On June 19th the halls of our government echoed with a sentiment rarely heard in houses of government around the world today; agreement. Members of both major parties took it in turns to talk up support for the craft beer industry and the nationwide movement that is supporting these small scale brewers.
So back in October last year we told you about the plans we were laying out to move and expand our business into the Old Butter Factory building in Tumut. After trials and tribulations this move unfortunately fell through, and although we were disheartened at this set back we know that these things happen and we wouldn’t have gotten to where we are now without falling down and picking ourselves back up.
Two New Seasonals! We started our brewery because we were enthralled by beer, really enjoyed brewing it, and our friends seemed to really like our brews too. Now we have our own brewery it seems like we can brew all the beer we want, however there are certain limits to having to brew beer for other people; we just can’t experiment as much as we want to or brew our desired wide varieties of excellent beer!
A one day event held at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel in the small town of Thredbo in the heart of the Snowy Mountains, the Kosciuszko Craft Beer Festival will be our first festival of 2017 and it is one that we are rather excited about. Why? Well this one is a little more of a festival for the beer brewer than the beer drinker.
Tis the season and we though it’d be best that we told you when we were going to be open during the festive period, so that you know when you can stop by to pick up a gift or sneak away for a cheeky pint Monday 19th - Saturday 31st Open 12pm - 7pm Everyday Except: Closed Christmas Day
So as Tim took the new van to the Taste of Coleambally Food and Farm Festival Simon took our full mobile bar with him to Sydney Craft Beer Week. Although we left on the same day Simon had pulled the long straw and didn’t have to be up on the darker side of dawn like we did, because he didn’t have to be set up until 1:30pm (he did still have to leave pretty early though).
Would you like to be able to open your door in the morning to find some new and exciting craft beer sitting on your doorstep? Well in our modern world this has become a reality! The internet is a beautiful place -some say- and there are now a selection of different online retailers offering beer, wine and spirits straight to your doorstep, and whilst this may not be as instant as a short trip to liquor store it can be a sure fire way to keep your fridge topped up with fresh beer.
We are hugely proud to announce that our Portstar Smoked Porter has just won Bronze at the Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show! This means our porter has followed in the steps of our JW Pilsner which won a bronze at last year's event.
This has been in the pipeline for a while, and now that it has finally come to fruition we can tell you guys all about our move and why we’re so excited! There’re a lot of new and exciting things happening, so this may be a little longer than our other articles but trust us, it’s worth it!
By far the most exciting thing that has happened to us in a while, Bertha means big things for us here down at Tumut River Brewing Co. Bertha -seen here in all her glory- is our new bottling plant which we picked up during mid-August, for a fine price, from our friends at Cavalier Brewing.
Crowdfund our Bottling Plant It's no secret that we run on a tight budget and we are in desperate need of a bottling plant. We have decided to attempt to crowdfund some/all of it. So we need your help! We are pre-selling the bottles that this plant will produce and will be delivering them from December.
