Everything is late, it always is. In todays world nothing and no one can turn up on time, it’s the one thing you can count on. Not Spark brewing equipment, God Damn it! Everything seems to have a mind of its own with this project and our shiny new furniture delivery was no exception.
We have a new brewery arriving in three weeks and nowhere to set it up. The dust settled pretty quickly after we were left out in the rain by that last guy and we started throwing out the feelers searching desperately for a new place in which to build our home.
We teed off after the last article and landed straight in the rough, or straight in the water really. Delays with the venue continued to back us up until a week (literally seven days) before our first contractor arrived on site and then the landlord pulled out.
Two New Seasonals! We started our brewery because we were enthralled by beer, really enjoyed brewing it, and our friends seemed to really like our brews too. Now we have our own brewery it seems like we can brew all the beer we want, however there are certain limits to having to brew beer for other people; we just can’t experiment as much as we want to or brew our desired wide varieties of excellent beer!
A one day event held at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel in the small town of Thredbo in the heart of the Snowy Mountains, the Kosciuszko Craft Beer Festival will be our first festival of 2017 and it is one that we are rather excited about. Why? Well this one is a little more of a festival for the beer brewer than the beer drinker.
Christmas is on its way and we don’t seem to be any closer to our new venue. Although we’ve completed and submitted all the paperwork we’re still waiting on some approvals so in someway it's relieving that we haven’t moved house yet. Although our new venue would have been a wonderful self Christmas present.
Tis the season and we though it’d be best that we told you when we were going to be open during the festive period, so that you know when you can stop by to pick up a gift or sneak away for a cheeky pint Monday 19th - Saturday 31st Open 12pm - 7pm Everyday Except: Closed Christmas Day
So as Tim took the new van to the Taste of Coleambally Food and Farm Festival Simon took our full mobile bar with him to Sydney Craft Beer Week. Although we left on the same day Simon had pulled the long straw and didn’t have to be up on the darker side of dawn like we did, because he didn’t have to be set up until 1:30pm (he did still have to leave pretty early though).
On the penultimate weekend of October we attended the Coleambally Food and Farm Festival , known around these parts as Taste Coly. This small town festival features food, drink, art exhibits and workshops of many kinds and really is a celebration of everything local.
Why do we make beer? Because we have a passion for it and really enjoy drinking it. Now drinking beer is exceptionally enjoyable, and making it is equally as fun however once you begin going down the road of business that we’re on you’ll find that there are some elements of it that aren’t so much fun. Like paperwork.
Would you like to be able to open your door in the morning to find some new and exciting craft beer sitting on your doorstep? Well in our modern world this has become a reality! The internet is a beautiful place -some say- and there are now a selection of different online retailers offering beer, wine and spirits straight to your doorstep, and whilst this may not be as instant as a short trip to liquor store it can be a sure fire way to keep your fridge topped up with fresh beer.
We are hugely proud to announce that our Portstar Smoked Porter has just won Bronze at the Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show! This means our porter has followed in the steps of our JW Pilsner which won a bronze at last year's event.
