Skabhangers live at TRBC -Saturday 21st September - FREE ENTRY

Taking inspiration from the sound of 1960s Jamaican ska and early rocksteady, the Skabhangers are a Naarm/Melbourne-based act gaining a reputation for their dynamic live shows. Emerging in late 2019 as the Commuters, the band reformed with a new and renamed lineup in late 2020 and performed where- and whenever possible between lockdowns. 2022 saw the Skabhangers perform at the Jamaican Music & Food Festival and take home 2nd prize in PBS FM’s February Performer Drive!
Their self-produced and self-written debut album, recorded in a back-shed home studio in Reservoir, was released in January 2023, and has received airplay locally and overseas. After a busy 2023 playing as many shows as possible around town, 2024 will see the band venture into regional areas and interstate with a Spring tour and more recording. Our relatively young band's original compositions feature burning instrumentals and songs with lyrics on modern suburban life – it’s the perfect music for all ages to kick back to or get up and have a boogie!
The performers wish to acknowledge the Wiradjuri people as the Traditional Owners of the land and water this show takes place on, and pay respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
